A garden pond and stream brought back to life, near Whitland
July 2025
Get in Touch
This water feature near Whitland hadn't been used in years. A stream runs down from the top of a slope into the pond, and the customers used to switch it on to impress guests. But moss and weeds had blocked the flow, and years of gunk had built up on the pond floor, burying access to the pump they needed to get it running again.
The customers are older now, and getting down into a pond full of gunk isn't something they can manage safely anymore. The ground around it is steep and covered in loose rock, which could be really dangerous if you're less steady on your feet.
We cleared the whole thing in two hours: bramble roots pulled from the pond edges, weeds stripped back, and wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of silt hauled out until we could finally reach the pump again. The stream runs freely now, and the pond is ready for the next time they have guests round.
What we did
- Cleared brambles and weeds that had taken over the pond edges
- Removed years of built-up silt and gunk from the pond bed
- Cleared moss and debris from the stream at the top of the slope so it could flow freely again
- Worked carefully across steep, rocky terrain to reach the pump
- Uncovered access to the pump so it can be reconnected
- Completed the full clearance in two hours
