What our hedge trimming service covers

We handle trimming and shaping of most types of hedge:

  • Formal garden hedges (box, yew, privet)
  • Boundary hedges along roads and fences
  • Reducing height and width within safe reach from the ground.
  • Gathering of hedge clippings into neat piles for your brown bin or compost heap
  • Seasonal maintencance to encourage healthy regrowth

Who books hedge trimming with us?

Hedges need cutting at least once a year, more for fast-growing types. Our customers include:

  • Homeowners who want tidy boundaries without doing it themselves
  • Anyone with a tall or extensive hedge that's difficult to manage safely
  • People with limited mobility who struggle with trimming hedges themselves
  • Landlords and property owners needing regular boundary maintenance

What to expect from us

We cut to a consistent line and clean up fully afterwards. We don't rush it. A straight hedge takes care and patience.

We're also mindful of timing. Between March and August, nesting birds have legal protection, so we check before cutting and won't disturb active nests. We'll advise on the best time to book based on your hedge and the season.

All clippings are cleared from the garden and left either in your brown bin or chosen compost area. We leave the area tidy.

Hedge Trimming FAQs

When is the best time to trim a hedge?
Late summer (August to September) is ideal for most hedges, after the main flush of growth and outside the main nesting season. Some hedges benefit from a second light trim in late winter. We'll advise based on what you have.
Can you cut Leylandii?
Yes. Leylandii can be cut back hard but there are limits. Cutting back into old brown wood won't regrow. We'll advise on what's safe and realistic before we start.
Do you check for bird nests first?
Yes, always. Between March and August we check for active nests before cutting. It's a legal requirement under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and something we take seriously.
Do you take the clippings away?
We gather all cuttings so they're easy to deal with. Most customers put them in their brown bin or add them to a compost heap. We don't take waste away ourselves.
How often do hedges need cutting?
Most garden hedges need cutting once or twice a year. Fast-growing types like Privet may need more frequent trimming to keep them manageable.
