A Leylandii hedge brought back within reach, Haverfordwest

Get in Touch

This customer's Leylandii hedge in Haverfordwest had got out of hand. It had grown too tall for him to reach, and he was nervous about tackling it himself. That's a fair worry. Leylandii won't regrow from old brown wood, so if you cut back past the green growth, that part of the hedge stays bare for good.
Having professionals come in and do it gave him peace of mind. We brought the top down and trimmed the sides back, keeping every cut within the green growth so the hedge can carry on filling out.
The ground slopes along the length of the hedge. We checked the levels before we started, and cutting the top dead level would have meant going too low at one end, into the brown wood, and damaging the hedge. So we cut the top to follow the slope of the ground instead. We got it done in a day, alongside some other work in the garden.
What we did
- Reduced the height of a long Leylandii hedge that had grown out of the customer's reach
- Trimmed the sides back to a neat face
- Kept every cut within the green growth, so no bare brown patches
- Checked the levels along the hedge before setting the height
- Cut the top to follow the slope of the ground rather than dead level, to avoid cutting too low at one end
- Finished in a day, alongside other work in the garden
“Great price. We received an excellent service and a great job clearing our garden. We would highly recommend Sam and Miles.”
