This hedge in Laugharne had a thick mat of ivy growing underneath it. We'd already trimmed the hedge itself into a manageable shape on an earlier visit, but the ivy underneath wasn't ideal and the customer wanted it gone to give the hedge the best chance of thriving.
Left alone, ivy like this competes with the hedge for water and nutrients, and it smothers anything else trying to grow underneath. Clearing it out gives the hedge room to breathe and puts everything it needs into its own roots.
We cleared it in around two hours. With the ivy gone, the hedge has a better chance of staying healthy and full going forward.
